Weekly Raptor

Yesterday, we were moving things from our temporary apartment to the house. And we had help; Ed Brayton of Dispatches from the Culture Wars drove here from Stanton to lend a hand. After several hours of hard work and two trips with the van and trailer between the two places, Ed was getting set to leave. We let Rusty out to get fed some tidbits. She was a bit skittish, and so made several passes over Ed’s glove before actually alighting. This picture is one where Rusty is making up her mind in midair about her approach to Ed.

Awsome, I trained raptors at the Chula Vista Nature Center for 5 years and I never got a shot like this one. We trained them to accept the public so we could educate people about raptors. Remember to save those pellets for the local school teacher!
